2 cups sugar
4 eggs
1 cup buttermilk
1 tsp. soda (mix w. buttermilk)
1 cup blackberry jam
1 cup peach jam
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup raisins
3/4 cup butter
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. each: clove, nutmeg, allspice, cinnamon
Flour to thicken 11/2 cups to 2 cups

Directions:

Grease pans well, put wax paper in pans, grease well.
Roll raisins in flour before adding to mixture. Beat egg, slowly add sugar and rest of ingredients, adding flour last.
Bake at 350 45-55 minutes.

I copied this receipe from Mother's cookbook when she was still living in St. Elmo. I have never tried this receipe because I remember Mother and Aunt Faithie complaining when it wouldn't come out of the pan easily. This cake was a staple at our Christmas dinners when I was growing up and I loved it. I really wish someone would make it for me someday.
