1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar, firmly packed
1/2 c. (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
1 egg
1/2 c. vegetable oil
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1 3/4 c. all-purpose flour
1/2 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 c. quick-cooking oats
1/2 c. chopped pecans
2 c. rice cereal or crushed cornflakes

Blend together sugar, brown sugar, and butter. Beat in egg; add vegetable oil and vanilla. Mix well. Combine flour, cream of tartar, salt and soda. Add to creamed sugar mixture, mixing well until blended. Stir in oats, pecans and cereal. Shape dough into 1-inch balls and place on greased cookie sheet 1-inch apart; flatten with fork. Bake at 350 for 7 to 12 min. or until lightly browned.
