"As I ate the oysters with their strong taste of the sea and their faint metallic taste that the cold white wine washed away, leaving only the sea taste and the succulent texture, and as I drank their cold liquid from each shell and washed it down with the crisp taste of the wine, I lost the empty feeling and began to be happy, and to make plans."--Ernest Hemingway

Directions:
Brown the ground beef with the celery and onion. (Add more
or less celery and onion as desired.) Salt and Pepper.
The recipe I have directs to brown the brown the beef, onion,
celery with 2 T. shortening - I skip the shortening!)

Add 1 quart of tomatoes and 1 small can of tomato sauce to
the beef mixture. Bring to slow boil and add the uncooked macaroni. Simmer for a short time or until the macaroni is
nearly done.

Add seasonings of chili powder and paprika and brown sugar.
(You can change the amount of these ingredients to taste.)

Add Kidney beans and peas.

Simmer very slowly or reheat over low heat so as not to
scorch.

Personal Notes:
My friends say this is more like a goulash - not a chili. It may be
but I don't remember having chili - growing up - any other way.
