One Thanksgiving Morning Ma was getting ready for her usual busy day. Lunch at Uncle Bryant's house and dinner with her family. She had baked cherry pies to take to Uncle Bryant's house. She deciced to take them over early, so she packed me (I was too little to stay home by myself) and the pies in the car. We didn't live very far from Uncle Bryant and it would only take a minute, so she decided to just go in her gown and robe. Uncle Bryant lived on a dirt road , it had been raining ( a lot), we turned in and slid into the ditch and the pies flew all over us. We looked like we had been murdered with all that red stuff!!! Since this was before cell phones, we had to get out and walk to the nearest house. When we knock on their door, they almost fainted, they thought we we almost dead from all the red pie stuff that looked like blood. Imagine how embarrassed Ma was, not only was she covered in cherry pie, she was walking around in her gown. We calmed them down they got our car out of the ditch and they called Daddy who came to get us. We were ok but the morale of this story is according to Ma you should never leave home, no matter how short the distance in your pajamas!!!!!!
