1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs (beaten light)
1/2 c. chopped nuts
1 c. chopped raisins
2 c. cake flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp nutmeg
1 tsp cinnamon
1 c. applesauce

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar together until fluffy. Add eggs and mix thoroughly. Add nuts and raisins. Sift dry ingredients together three times and add alternately with applesauce and creamed mixture, beating thoroughly after each addition. Pour into a greased loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for one hour.

If baked in layers, bake only for 25 minutes. Makes one loaf (8X4 inches) or two. I use tube pan and cook at 350º for an hour.
