1/2 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 tsp almond extract
2 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 cup flour
1/2 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup rolled oats
1/2 cup chopped nuts
Directions:
Directions:
Mix shortening, sugar, egg & flavorings thoroughly. Blend in chocolate. Stir dry ingredients together & blend in. Stir in oats and nuts. Mold in a roll 1-1/2 " in diameter. Wrap in waxed paper. Chill several hours or overnight. Heat oven to 350º. Slice dough 1/4" thick using thin, very sharp knife. Place about 1" apart on ungreased baking sheet. Bake 10-12 minutes.
