1 cup sugar
3/4 cup Crisco
1 beaten egg
4 tablespoons molasses
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon cloves
pinch of ginger

Directions:
Directions:
Cream Crisco and sugar. Add egg, molasses, and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients and mix well. Bake in 350º oven for 10 minutes, until they are barely done.

Watch closely, and do not allow them to over bake. This is a soft cookie.
