1/2 c shortening
1 c sugar
1 egg
2 c flour
1/8 t salt
1 t cinnamon
1/'2 t cloves
1 t cocoa
1 c chopped nuts
2 t soda
1/2 c hot water
1 t vanilla
1 1/2 c applesauce
1 c raisins
Glaze
1 c powdered sugar
lemon juice

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together shortening, sugar and egg. Sift together flur, salt, cinnamon, cloves, cocoa. Combine dry ingredients with raisins and nuts. Dissolve soda in hot water, then add vanilla. Alternate flour mixture, applesauce, and creamed mixture, mixing thoroughly. Bake in 300 for 30-40 minutes, until done, depending on size of pan.

Glaze
about a cup of powdered with lemon juice to make thin consistency.
