1/2 cup instant coffee crystals
2 tablespoons hot water
1 cup butter, softened
1 1/4 cups sugar
3/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 2/3 cups flour
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
3/4 cup slivered almonds, toasted

Directions:

Preheat oven to 350º. Dissolve coffee crystals in the hot water; set aside. In a large bowl, beat butter, sugar, baking soda, and salt until well combined. Beat in coffee mixture, eggs, and vanilla. Beat in as much of the flour as you can. Stir in any remaining flour. Stir in chocolate pieces and almonds. Drop by teaspoon on greased baking sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes.
