3/4 cup butter or margarine
1 cup brown sugar
1 egg
1/4 cup molasses
2-1/4 cups all purpose flour
2 teaspoons soda
1/4 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon cloves
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon ginger
granulated sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Mix butter, sugar, egg, and molasses thoroughly. Add flour, and other dry ingredients. Mix well, and refrigerate about 1 hour. Heat oven to 375º. Roll dough into 1-1/4" balls. Dip tops in sugar. Place balls , sugared side up on a greased cookie sheet. Sprinkle each with 2-3 drops of water. Bake 10-12 minutes or until just set, but not hard.
