2 c. flour
1 c. oatmeal
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. margarine
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. sugar
1 egg slightly beaten
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pumpkin puree
1 c. chocolate chips
Assorted icings, candies, raisins or nuts

Preheat oven to 350º. Combine flour, oats, baking soda, cinnamon and salt, set aside. Cream butter, sugars, beating until light and fluffy. Add egg and vanilla; mix. Add dry ingredients and pumpkin, mixing well after each addition. Stir in chocolate chips. For each cookie, drop 1/4 cup of dough onto lightly greased cookie sheet; spread into pumplin shape, using a thin metal spatula. Add a bit more dough to form stem. Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Remove from cookie sheet and cool on racks. Decorate using icing, assorted candies, raisins and nut.
