Apricot Bars Recipe

10 oz pkg apricots
1 3/4 cups sugar
1/4 cup apricot juice
3/4 cup butter or margerine
2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 1/2 cups flaked coconut
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts

Directions:
Directions:
Cook apricots according to directions on package without adding sugar
Drain, saving 1/4 cup juice
Add 3/4 cup sugar and the apricot juice. Simmer for 5 minutes.
Cool

Cream butter and remaining sugar until light and fluffy
Add sifted dry ingredients and mix well
Add nuts and coconut, mix well
Press 3/4 of the mixture in bottom of a 9 x 13 pyrex
Bake @350º for 10 minutes

Spread apricot mixture on top
Crumble remaining butter mixture over surface
Bake @350º an additional 20 minutes
