1/2 Cup shortening
1-1/2 Cup sugar
2 Eggs, beaten
1 Cup Applesauce
2 Cups flour - sifted with dry ingredients
1/2 Tsp. Salt
1 Tsp. Baking Powder
1/2 Tsp. Baking Soda
1 Tsp. Cinnamon
1/2 Tsp. Ground Cloves
1 Cup Raisins
Frosting:
1/2 Cup Oleo or Butter
2 Cups Powdered Sugar
2 Egg Yolks
1 Tsp. Vanilla
5 Tbsp Cream

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs. Beat well. Add applesauce, and then sifted dry ingredients. Beat until smooth. Fold in raisins. Line an 8x8 baking dish with waxed paper and pour batter into prepared dish. Bake for 35 minutes.
Frosting: Cream oleo and sugar. Stir in unbeaten egg yolks and vanilla. Add cream as frosting becomes thick. Pour over cake while still warm.
