3/4 c corn meal
1 c flour
1/3 c sugar
3 tsp. baking powder (tartrate or phosphate type) or 2 tsp. of combination type
3/4 tsp. salt
1 c milk
1 egg, well beaten
2 Tbsp melted shortening

Directions:
Preheat oven to 425º F. Mix & sift dry ingredients. Add milk, egg, and shortening. Bake in shallow buttered pan for 20 minutes.
