1 cup shortening
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 1/4 cups flour
1 teaspoon salt
11.5 ounce bag milk chocolate chips

Directions:
Directions:
Whip the shortening, sugar, and eggs until creamy. Then add everything but the chocolate chips. After two cups of flour, gradually add the additional 1/4 cup until dough isn't sticky when touched. Add the chocolate chips. You may use more or less, as desired. Bake at 375° for approximately 10 minutes.

We love to add pecan chunks to these cookies. We also like making them with 1/2 shortening, 1/2 butter. It gives them the softness of shortening but adds the flavor of butter.
