4 ounces unsweetened chocolate
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
(or 3/4 cup cocoa and 1/4 cup oil)
1 1/4 cups flour
2/3 cup shortening
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups sugar
1 cup nuts (optional)
4 eggs
Directions:
Directions:
Melt chocolate and shortening in a large saucepan over low heat. Remove from heat and mix in sugar, eggs (add one at a time and mix completely), and vanilla. Stir in remaining ingredients. Pour into a greased 9x13 pan and bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
