3 squares unsweetened chocolate
1 c. butter, no substitutes
2 1/4 c. brown sugar
3 large eggs
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 1/4 c. flour
2 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sour cream
1 c. boiling water
1/2 c. butter
4 squares unsweetened chocolate
3 c. powdered sugar
1/2 c. milk
2 tsp. vanilla

Melt and cool chocolate. Cream butter, sugar and eggs. Beat in vanilla and cooled chocolate. Mix flour, soda, and baking powder together and stir in alternately with sour cream. Fold in boiling water. Pour into 3 -9 inch pans, lined with waxed paper and greased. Bake at 350 for 25-35 minutes. Test with tooth pick. Cool 10 minutes on wire rack. Remove from pans and cool completely before frosting.
Melt butter and chocolate; add the sugar and beat until smooth. Add the milk and vanilla. Layer the cake with frosting between each layer. Frost top and sides.
