3 c. flour
2 1/2 T.sugar
4 1/2 tsp.baking powder
3/4 tsp.salt
3/4 tsp.cream of tarter
3/4 c.butter or margarine
3/4 c.milk
1 egg, slightly beaten

Directions:
Directions:
In large bowl sift together flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and cream of tarter. Add butter. With fork or pastry blender, blend mixture until it resembles coarse meal. Then stir in egg and milk. Turn dough on a lightly floured surface; knead lightly for 4 or 5 strokes. Roll or pat into a 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick round. Cut with a 2 inch biscuit cutter. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 425º for 12-18 minutes, depending on size.
