1C. raisins
1C. water
3/4 C. shortening
1 1/2 C. sugar
2 eggs
1tsp vanilla
2 1/2 C. flour
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 tsp soda
1 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp cloves
2 c. oatmeal (oats)
1/2 c chopped nuts

Directions:
Directions:
Simmer raisins & Water in saucepan over low heat until raisins are plump, 20-30 min. Drain Raisin liquid into measuring cup; add enough water (if needed) to make 1/2 cup.
Mix shortening, sugar eggs, & vanilla. Stir in raisin liquid.
Stir together flour, baking powder, soda, salt and spices; blend in. Add rolled oats, nuts and raisins. Drop rounded teaspoons full of dough about 2" apart on ungreased baking sheet.
bake 8 to 10 min or until lightly browned
I use 375º on the upper rack of the oven.
