1 cup (2 sticks) butter
1 cup sugar
1 cup confectioners’ sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
3 ˝ C. all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
˝ tsp salt
Colored sugar sprinkles

Beat butter at medium speed with mixer until soft and creamy; gradually add sugars; beat well. Add eggs and vanilla.

Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Gradually add dry ingredients and mix well. Cover and chill one hour.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper. Divide dough in half. Store one portion in refrigerator until ready to use. Roll remaining portion of dough into 1/8 inch thickness on a lightly floured surface. Cut with cookie cutters. Place on cookie sheets and sprinkle with colored sugar.

Bake 8-10 minutes. Cool 2 minutes on cookie sheet and then remove to wire rack. Cook completely.
