Directions:Combine 1 1/2 cups flour and all other dry ingredients in a bowl and add shortening. Pour warm water over the mixture, add egg, and mix well. Add remaining flour, when mixing by hand, add 1/4 cup flour at a time. Dough will be done when it forms a ball and cleans the sides of the bowl.
Cover the dough and let it rise until double in size, about two hours. Turn onto a lightly floured surface. Pat out dough (3/4 to 1 inch thick) and cut rolls with a biscuit cutter.
Melt some butter and lightly butter the inside of each circle. Fold in half and pinch the edge close. Then butter the top of the roll. Place on a greased cookie sheet. The rolls should not touch. Spread them out much like you would when baking cookies.
Let rise for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Bake at 400º for 8-10 minutes. |

Notes: I place my rolls at an angle on the cookie sheet so they can raise without touching any other rolls. You should only be able to fit 12 rolls per cookie sheet.
