Ingredients: 1/4 c white corn syrup
1 c brown sugar
1/2 c butter (1 stick)
Shake of salt
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp vanilla
Cereal Mixture: 1 to 2 bags of butter pretzels (3 if doubling -- HyVee brand is great); 1 to 2 boxes of Hexagon cereal (3 if doubling, HyVee brand); container of cashews
To add color or for a special occasion, add Reese's Pieces, M&M's or raisins. Do not microwave these though. Add after it is all cooked.

Directions:Mix first three ingredients in saucepan and bring to a full boil. Add the next three. This will froth as you stir it in so hold it over your cereal mixture. Toss this with cereal mixture, then dump into an unused brown paper bag and place in microwave for 1-1/2 minutes.
Take out and shake gently and then return to microwave for another 1-1/2 minutes. Remove from oven and pour out and smooth to cook this. Break apart and put into bowl or bags. |
