2 c. sugar
2 c. plain flour
1/2 t. salt
1 c. water
1 stick butter
1/2 c. oil
6 T. cocoa
2 eggs
1/2 c. buttermilk
1 t. soda
1 t. vanilla

3 squares unsweet chocolate
1 stick butter
3 T. white corn syrup
2 1/4 c. sugar
3/4 c. canned milk
1/8 t. salt

Cake: Stir together sugar, flour and salt. Bring to boil water, butter, oil and cocoa. Blend together eggs buttermilk, soda and vanilla. Add chocolate mixture to flour mixture then beat in egg mixture. Pour into greased 9 x 13" pan. Bake at 350 for 25-30 minutes. Put icing on while warm.
Icing: Place all ingredients in boiler and heat slowly, stirring, until it comes to a hard boil. Boil hard for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Pour over top of cake while cake is still warm.
