1 1/2c. boiling water
Pour over:
1 c. oatmeal
Cool 20 minutes.
1 c. white sugar
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. shortening
2 eggs

Add oatmeal mixture.
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Bake 30 minutes at 350 degrees in 9 x 13 x 2 inch pan.

ICING: Top while warm:
3/4 c. brown sugar 1/2 c. walnuts
6 tbsp. butter 1/2 c. coconut
4 tbsp. cream 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Spread. Put under broiler until done.
