1 cup sugar
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup light corn syrup
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cook everything together till hard ball or 260 degrees. Pour onto oiled platter and turn outer edges of candy in toward center till cool enough to handle. Sprinkle 1 tsp flavoring over top and pull until cool and firm enough to handle. If taffy sugars, recook in pan with 2 tbsp corn syrup and 1/4 cup water. Stir till dissolved and re-cook by original directions.

I included this one because it seemed to be the only recipe in Mom's collection that was recorded in Dad's handwriting. He didn't spend much time in the kitchen with an apron on. I remember him helping us make this taffy on a few occasions when us boys were still at home. I don't recall ever producing a very successful batch, but we always ate the end product anyway.
