1 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar - packed
1/2 cup shortening
1/2 cup peanut butter
1 egg
2 tbsp milk
1 tsp vanilla
chocolate candy kisses

Directions:
Directions:
Combine ingredients in bowl (not kisses). Mix at lowest speed until dough forms. Shape into small balls and roll in white sugar. Place on ungreased baking sheet and bake at 350 to 375 degrees for 10 to 12 minutes. Top each cookie (hot) with kiss - press until edge cracks.

I don't know that Mom ate many of these, but she sure enjoyed making them. The little kids usually got to push the chocolate onto the cookies (some kisses ended up being eaten before they actually became part of the cookie).
