Personal Notes:
This dessert, made with simple ingredients found in long-ago farm pantries, stands the test of years and is a favorite of our family and our guests. Somehow, the apple slices have an unusual texture and the raisins become plump and juicy. Serve it hot from the oven on a winter's night and top each serving with a scoop of Schwan's vanilla ice cream.
