1/4 c butter
2 c white sugar
1 c sour cream
1 tsp grated rind of lemon or orange
3 c sifted flour
1 tsp soda
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt

Directions:
Directions:
Cream butter and 1/2 c sugar. Add sour cream beaten with the remaining sugar. Mix well; add sifted dry ingredients including grated rind. Drop on greased cooky sheet. Top with a raisin and sprinkling of sugar. Bake in a moderate oven until golden brown.

These cookies are a part of my many memories of Grandma Annie Buller whose warm kitchen was only a hop, a skip and a jump across a gravel road from my home. I remember a table on her porch where the cookies were placed to cool and how I helped myself to several of the warm raisin centers, but I do not remember a scolding.
