1 lb ground beef
1 large onion chopped
1/2 cup green chopped bell pepper
1 large clove garlic minced
2 tbsp chile powder
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp sugar
1/4 tsp cumin
1 (28oz) can Hunts whole peeled tomatoes
1 (15 oz) can tomato sauce
1/4 c water
1 (15 1/2 oz) can small red kidney beans)
Grated Parmesan

Saute beef in a heavy kettle. Add remaining ingredients except Parmesan cheese. Simmer covered for 30 minutes to 1 hour.

Top with cheese.

Note from Melissa - Instead of Parmesan I topped with Tobasco, sharp cheddar cheese, a dollop of sour cream and green scallions.
