3 1/2 c sugar
1 c milk
1/2 c sugar
1/2 c hot water
1/4 stick butter
1/2 t salt
1/4 t baking soda
1 t vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Put first 2 ingredients in a sauce pan and heat over medium high heat.

Put 1/2 c sugar in a heavy skillet and heat over medium high heat until sugar melts and turns golden brown. Add hot water to melted sugar and stir until a syrup is formed.

Add syrup to boiling sugar and milk combo and cook to the soft ball stage (325 on candy thermometer). Remove from heat and add remaining ingredients.
