2 - 3 lbs. fresh green beans, snapped and washed
2 sweet onions, chopped
1 lb. bacon cut into pieces
1/2 - 1 c. sugar
salt and pepper
2 cans chicken stock
water

Directions:
Directions:
In large pot, brown bacon pieces. Add onion and cook until tender. Drain some of the bacon grease leaving 2-3 tbsp. in pot. Add beans, chicken stock, 1/2 c. sugar, salt and pepper. Add water until beans are covered. Cook over low heat 4-6 hours. You may need to add more sugar.

I remember Grandma O making these beans. When I married Ben and asked what he loved to eat, he stated some kind of green bean my mom used to make and cook all day. I guessed at the recipe from memories of Grandma O and got it right on the first try. I like to think she was guiding my hand.
