1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup soft shortening or butter
1 tsp salt
2 eggs or 4 egg yolks plus 2 TBS water
3/4 cup warm water 2 pkg active dry yeast
4 cups Gold Medal Flour
Filling:
1-8 ounce pkg Black Walnuts
1 TBS sugar
1/4 cup milk

Directions:

Dough: Cream sugar, shortening, salt and eggs thoroughly. Dissolve yeast in the warm water. Add Creamed mixture and 1 1/2 cups of flour to yeast. Beat in mixer on low speed for 10 minutes. Stir in remaining flour. Let rise 1 1/2 hours, then stir down and let rise again.

Filling: Put Black Walnuts and sugar in food processor and pulse. Add milk a little at a time until the filling is spreadable. Put in fridge until ready to use.

Roll dough out on a floured surface. Spread filling all over dough and roll jelly roll style. Fold under edges.
Bake at 375 degrees 15 to 18 minutes. Let cool to room temp, and serve.
