⅓ c. melted butter or margarine
2 c. oatmeal (quick or old fashion, uncooked)
½ c. firmly packed brown sugar
¼ c. dark corn syrup
½ tsp. Salt
1½ tsp. Vanilla
Topping:
One 6 oz. pack. (1 cup) semi-sweet chocolate pieces, melted
¼ cup chopped nut-meats

Directions:
Directions:
1. Pour butter over oats; mix thoroughly
2. Add sugar, syrup, salt and vanilla, blending well
3. Pack firmly into a greased 1x11-inch pan
4. Bake in preheated very hot oven (450 F.) About 12 minutes
5. Cool thoroughly
6. Loosen edges and turn out of pan
7. Spread with melted chocolate
8. Sprinkle with nut-meats
9. Chill; cut in bars
10. Store in refrigerator.
