1 tbsp. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. cocoa, dissolved in boiling water, finish cup with sour milk (the sourer the milk, the better)
1 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. soda
Pinch salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix ingredients well and add vanilla last. Bake in medium oven (350 degrees) in 2 layers or loaf pan. Use toothpick test for doneness
