1 cup Quaker Quick Oats
2 cups water
Dash of Salt
Sugar
Butter
Evaporated milk

Directions:

Bring water to boil in a saucepan. Add oats and salt and stir frequently until oats take on a very creamy consistency.

Remove from heat; add cane sugar, butter and evaporated milk.

I believe Paw-Paw (Walter Burke Rushton) ate a bowl of oatmeal prepared this way almost every day of his life. I remember him telling me that it would "stick to your ribs" like no other breakfast food could. This oatmeal did just that, as well as sticking to everything else it came into contact with, especially the wooden spoon used to stir the pan.
