6 or 8 Medium Cabbage Heads
1/2 Gal. Sliced Horseradish
1/2 c. Mustard Seed
1 tsp. Turmeric
2 1/2 lb. Brown Sugar

Directions:
Directions:
Quarter the cabbage, leave the stalks in. Put in boiling salted water, cook until tender but firm. Take out of water. Let drain and cool. Put in layers in 4 gallon crock jar. Sprinkle horseradish, mustard seed and turmeric on each layer. After packing, mix brown sugar with water. Bring to boil. Pour over cabbage boiling hot. Cover jar, weight down and put in a cool place.
