1 c. sugar
1/2 c. shortening
1 sq. unsweetened chocolate, melted
1 egg, beaten
1 c. sour milk
1 1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 small bottle maraschino cherries, with juice cut into small pieces

Frosting:
3 sq. unsweetened chocolate
3 T. butter
3 c. powdered sugar
7 T. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 c. miniature marshmallows

Cake:
Cream sugar and shortening. Add egg, milk, and chocolate. Sift flour, salt and soda; add to chocolate mixture and mix well. Add cherries, juice, and nuts, mix. Bake in a 350º oven for approximately 35 minutes.

Frosting:
Melt chocolate and butter. Combine the powdered sugar, salt milk and vanilla. Add chocolate mixture. Fold in marshmallows. Add more milt or more sugar, if needed, to desired consistency. Frost the cake.
