1 lb bag of dried split peas, washed and sorted
1 16 oz can chicken broth
Water to cover peas to about 2 inches
12/ lb turkey ham, diced
1 c chopped celery
1/2 c chopped onions
1-2 cloves minced garlic
1/2 c diced carrots
1 bay leaf
Salt and pepper to taste

Directions:
Directions:
Place peas in a Dutch oven and add all remaining ingredients. Heat on high to boiling and lower to medium heat.

Simmer until peas are completely softened (about 1 1/2 hours. Stir often to avoid sticking and add liquid as needed.

Soup is done when it is thick and smooth.
