Ingredients:  
1 c. shortening
2 c. sugar
1 c. sour milk (add 1 tbs. lemon juice to milk)
1 c. hot water
4 c. flour
3/4 c. cocoa
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tsp. soda
2 whole eggs plus 2 yokes
filling:
2 egg whites
2 tsp. vanilla
2 tbsp. flour
2 tbsp. confectioner's sugar
1 c. butter

Directions:
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar, add eggs and yokes, beat well. Add 1 cup flour and other dry ingredients. Add milk, water and rest of flour alternately. Mix well, drop from teaspoon onto greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400º for 10 minutes.

Filling: Mix flour, vanilla, sugar and butter and beat well. Spread onto one cookie, top with another. (sort of like devil dogs)
