1 cup fine corn meal
1/2 cup flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 small chopped onion
Directions:
Directions:
Sift first five ingredients together. Mix with onions. Pour boiling water over mixture and stir until moistened. Let cool. Mix again and drop by spoonful into hot grease until brown. Makes about 12-16 depending on size.

My mother always used beer instead of boiling water. Either would be just fine.
