2 egg whites
1/8 tsp salt
1/8 tsp cream of tartar
1/2 cup sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla, divided
4 oz. German chocolate, melted
1/4 c dark or light rum
1 c. heavy cream, whipped

Directions:
Directions:
Beat egg whites until foamy. Add salt and cream of tartar. Gradually add sugar and continue beating until very stiff peaks form. Fold in pecans and 1/2 vanilla. Spoon into lightly buttered 9" pie plate. Gently spread up sides and across bottom to cover plate. Build up sides at least 1/2 inch above edge of pan. Cook in 300º oven for 50-55 minutes. Cool completely.
Filling:
Blend chocolate, rum 1 tsp vanilla, and whipped cream. Gently fold together until no streaks remain. Pile into meringue shell. Chill at least 4 hours.
