1 1/2 c sugar
3 T cornstarch
1/2 c cocoa
1/2 tsp salt

3 c whole milk

3 egg yolks, slightly beten

1 T butter
1 1/2 tsp vanilla

Directions:
Directions:
Mix sugar, cornstarch, cocoa and salt in saucepan. Stir in milk gradually, a little at first until it is mixed thoroughly and not lumpy.
Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil 1 minute.
Remove from heat. Gradually stir at least half of the hot mixture into the beaten egg yolks. Then blend into hot mixture in the saucepan and boil 1 minute more, stirring constantly.
Remove from heat and blend in butter and vanilla.
Let filling cool slightly and then pour into pie shell. (See pie shell recipe) Chill thoroghly (2 hours). Top with sweetened whipped cream.
