Directions:Prepare the filling: In a medium skillet, melt the margarine and sauté the onion, beef, garlic, coriander, chili powder, ginger, cumin seed and turmeric until onion is tender and beef is browned, 6 to 8 minutes. Stir mixture to crumble beef. Blend in apple, water and salt; reduce heat and simmer, covered until apple is very soft, about 20 minutes. Stir to mash apple, cool.
Prepare the patties: Thaw puff pastry. Working with one piece at a time, roll out and trim each sheet into 8-inch circles. Place 2 to 3 tablespoons of filling on half of each. Moisten the edges of the dough with water and fold the dough circle over the meat filling. Pinch the edges closed with a fork. Lightly brush the pastry with a mixture of the egg and water. **
Bake on a lightly greased baking sheet for 30 to 40 minutes or until the pastry are golden brown.
** Can be frozen for one month at this point. Place on plastic-wrap lined baking sheet in single layers. |
