1-2 pounds fresh broccoli spears
2 c. frozen whole small onions
4 T. margarine (reserve half for breadcrumbs)
2 T. all-purpose flour
1/4 t. salt
Dash pepper
1 c. milk
1 3-oz. package cream cheese
1/2 c. sharp cheddar cheese
1 c. soft bread crumbs

Directions:
Directions:
Cook broccoli spears just until tender. Drain. Cook onions separately and drain.
In saucepan, melt two tablespoons of butter; blend in flour, salt and pepper. Add milk; cook and stir until thick and bubbly. Reduce heat; blend in cream cheese until smooth. Place vegetables in 2- qt. casserole. Pour sauce over and top with cheddar. Cover and chill.
Melt remaining butter and toss with crumbs. Cover and chill.
Bake covered at 350 degrees for 30 minutes. Sprinkle with crumbs. Bake uncovered until heated through (about 30 more minutes).
