1/3 c. Crisco
1 stick butter or margarine
4 tbsp. cocoa
1 c. water
2 c. sugar
2 c. plain flour
½ c. buttermilk with 1 tsp. soda
1 egg, unbeaten
1 tsp. vanilla.

Frosting
1 stick butter
1 tbsp. cocoa
6 tbsp. buttermilk
1 lb. confectioners sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. pecans

Directions:
Directions:
Sift together flour and sugar. Mix Crisco, water and cocoa and bring to a boil. Pour boiling mixture over flour and sugar. Mix all other ingredients. Put in greased and floured pan and bake in 300 degree oven for 45 minutes.

Frosting
Mix 5 minutes before cake is done.
Combine margarine, cocoa and buttermilk and bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add sugar and beat well. Add vanilla and pecans. Mix well. Spread over warm cake.
