1 1/2 stick butter room temperature
2 cups dark brown sugar
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 tsp baking soda
2 cups pecan halves toasted and cooled
2 cups extra large chocolate chips(chocolate chunks)
1/4 cup vegetable shortening
2 large eggs
3 1/4 cup flour
1 tsp salt.
2 cups dried cherries

Preheat oven 375
Cream butter and shortening 2 minutes. Add sugar beat 5 minutes. Add beaten eggs and stir in buttermilk set aside. Sift dry ingredients, gently add to butter mixture. Stir in nuts,cherries and chocolate chips. Chill batter that is tightly covered at least 1 hr. Use cookie sheet with parchment paper. Use 1/2 Tbs scoop measure. 1 dozen evenly spaced cookies. Flatten slightly. Bake 8 to 10 min. Until no imprint left. Allow cookies to cool 1 Min on cookie sheet then cool on rack. Store in air tight container. Makes 8 dozen
