1/2 to 3/4 c. onion, chopped
1 to 1 1/2 lb. ground beef
5-6 potatoes, peeled and sliced
salt and pepper to taste
1 (10.75 oz.) can condensed cream of
mushroom or cream of chicken soup
1/2 c. milk
paprika to taste
browning sauce (optional)

Preheat oven to 350º degrees. Saute onion and hamburger in large frying pan until hamburger is browned. Season to taste. In a 2 1/2 quart greased casserole, place a layer of potatoes. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste and then spread a layer of ground beef over the potatoes. Repeat layers, ending with potatoes. In a medium bowl, combine the soup with the milk and browning sauce. Mix well and pour over the casserole mixture. Sprinkle with paprika to taste. Cover pan and bake for 1 hour.
