1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
4 eggs
1 (1 lb) can chocolate flavored syrup
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup chopped walnuts (Aunt Judy doesn't use these)
1 qt. vanilla ice cream, softened

Directions:
Directions:
Cream together butter & sugar until light & fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Beat in chocolate syrup & vanilla.
Sift together flour, baking powder & salt. Gradually stir into creamed mixture. Stir in walnuts.
Pour mixture in greased 151/2" x 101/2" x 1" jelly roll pan.
Bake in moderate oven (350º) 30 mins or until it tests done. Cool well.
Remove cake from pan & cut in half, making two 71/2" x 5" pieces. Spread ice cream over one layer & top with other layer. Wrap tightly in aluminum foil & freeze. Before serving, cut into 3 sections. Cut each section into 8 slices. Makes 24 slices.
