1 cup milk
1/4 cup sugar
1 tsp. salt
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter or margarine
1/2 cup warm water
2 pkgs yeast
2 eggs, beaten
5 1/4 cups unsifted flour (about)

Directions:
Scald milk. Stir in sugar, salt & margarine. Cool to lukewarm.

Measure warm water into large warm bowl. Sprinkle in yeast and stir until dissolved.

Add lukewarm milk mixture, eggs & 2 cups flour. Beat until smooth. Stir in enough remaining flour to make soft dough.

Turn out onto lightly floured board. Knead until smooth & elastic, about 8-10 mins.

Place in greased bowl, turning to grease top. Cover. Let rise in warm place, free from draft until doubled in bulk, about 30 mins. Punch down. Turn onto lightly floured board.

Pan rolls:
Divide dough into 2 equal pieces. Form each piece into a roll 9 inches long. Cut into 9 equal pieces. Form into smooth balls. Place in greased 8" round cake pans. Cover. Let rise in warm place, free from draft, until double in bulk, about 30 mins.

Brush lightly with melted margarine. Bake in moderate oven (375º) about 15-20 mins.
