2 c. sugar
1/2 c. cocoa
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. flour, sifted
2 tsp. baking soda
3/4 c. shortening (or margarine)
1 1/2 c. boiling water
2 eggs beaten
1 tsp. vanilla

Cocoa Almond Frosting
6 tbsp. butter
3 1/2 c. powdered sugar, sifted
1/2 c. cocoa, sifted
1/3 c. milk
1 tsp. almond extract

Directions:
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350º. Mix together sugar, cocoa, salt, flour, baking soda, shortening and boiling water. Once incorporated add eggs and vanilla. Pour into 2 ungreased 9" pans or one 10x13. Mixture will be very thin. Bake for about 25-30 minutes depending on your oven. Test with a toothpick as it may take longer in some ovens.

Cocoa Almond Frosting
Sift together powdered sugar and cocoa. Cream butter and sugar mixture. Add milk and almond extract. Beat until fluffy and thick enough to spread.
